Even though its for free, still should it be some what workable? Well, i really don't mind paying some bucks every month just to have maybe a little more fantastic on-going feature. Couldn't sleep even till 8:48am.. And were forced to enjoy his long awaited Singaporean BREAKFAST.. mohaha.. Wok-fried Quay Tual sided with deep-fried chicken wings. Plus, freshly blended warm Soya milk as accompanying drink. You can go ahead with the cursing and swearing but i'm gonna tell you this.. its damn fucking "Breakfast well deserved"... Haha.. Was random-ing yahoo news and happen to come across this interesting feed. "Chubby people live longest". Well based on research studies in Japan, it has been proven that fat people lived longer than skinny people. It sort of bothered me that would I rather live longer by being fat or would i die earlier by stay skinny.

Well, i guess i would rather die early and stay skinny. Frankly speaking, i propose no discrimination on the obesity population and by staying skinny is purely an issue towards self-preferences. I still do indulge in treating my eyes with gorgeously skinny models. All those runways and editorial shoots were a die for. Plus its simply mouth-watering when it comes to that "chic-ness from within". But who knows, maybe a brand new vogue of obesity would inspire the next avant-garde fashion.

THE GRAND DAY..

Got the results on my current degree program.. Scored a 2nd lower hons + degree. Was kind-of disappointed as i aimed for at least a 2nd upper. Can see my first class drifting away after loads of group work. You know, it's really difficult to work in a group when each wanted different things and aimed different goals.

But, what can i say. I've tried my very best this time round and would try harder for my masters. Can't wait for the far-near future to come. Would probably work for a good 5 years before progressing to masters.

Recalling back to the times where i ever said, "studying made hell lot of a disaster in life". Well at this point of time where i've been through university, i have to say i kind-of indulge into the academic world. It's more towards the process, experience and stress that made a die for. Kind-of weird huh? I can't believe it at first but i guess, i've changed to be a total different person. However, not yet too near to be a "nerd" i guess.

I came from a lousy academic background during my high school period. Well, we address it as "secondary school" back in Singapore and i was under the stream of "normal technical". Which in other words, the worst and lousiest among all. How cute of the governments to categories students. Well, i wasn't too disappointed in myself no matter how people looked at me "academically" and i told myself, "dude, you have to work harder, way more than any other that's standing right in-front of you".

I knew my journey ahead would be tough and i had visions of them. I know what i want is what i get and i believed in "if there's a will, there's a way". Nobody can ever imagine how much thorns i had to outcome in-order to obtain my desired fruit, even myself. Every time i fell, i just had to keep trying.

I had read tons of books. Proposal writing, grammar, vocabulary, accounting, gastronomic, hospitality and more. Those were hell lot of nightmares when i first married them. But I did force myself through and i told myself, i'm not as lucky as those who receives loads of help from others. Although i do receive help round the corner and during the period of my study but still, I'm not as lucky as compared to some.

My journey was alot tougher and rockier as i didn't had to privilege to do literature or composition during high school. Well again not really a privilege at that point of time but you would sooner or later realise and be glad that you did go through that process. Trust me, it was alot easier if you had done them at that age. It really did help to work your future better and smoother.

Now that i've come so far, i can't wait to proceed on further. I can hear the nature of "career" calling and i can see that success drawing me nearer. Some day, i would be a successful businessman that owns my very exquisite restaurant and magazine.

Now that you've read about my vision, I want you to pause life for just a tiny second and think about your vision. What do you really want to achieve in life? *Don't forget to be practical.

Dinner with great Company..

Its kinda been a week full of eating good food. Dined at one of my favorite thai restaurant together with a handful of great companies. This stand alone thai restaurant was located 3 miles away from Luzern bus station. Not more than 5 mins walk and you could see their signboard "Memories of Asia".

Lilin, joce, Hweelin and myself shared 4 dishes and same goes to Winnie, Vian, Amanda and Yammy. So on our side, we ordered:

Red Curry Fish
Tom Yam Soup
Pat Thai
Deep-fried Wanton

Starting from Red curry fish, it was as indulging as the first time i had them. Fish slices were deep-fried till golden-brown and red fish curry gravy was creamy and done just at the right consistency. Could have been a little more spicy though.

Tom yam soup was excellent but just that portioning was abit tiny. Surely good for 2 persons to share.

Pat thai was prepared differently as compared to those i had in Singapore. But still, nice wok-fried flavor, al denta doneness and not forgetting lots and lotsa prawns.. Its a "oui oui" for all.

Last but not least, deep-fried wantons, one of Singapore's delicacy but not sure if its the same for the thai-s. Well just as we all know, deep fried food can't go wrong. Meat fillings were at the right size and consistency, specifically wrapped and fried till crispy golden-brown. Trust me, when they goes right in-front of ya mouth, you just can't wait to chew them. So are your lips getting jealous on da tasting.

Atmosphere was set right although there wasn't music or special performances. As you can see from one of the pictures, exquisite wooden interior furnishing with sufficient daylight exposures. Sadly, menu descriptions were wrote in german. Thats a "too-bad" for foreigners isn't it. Thank god we had familiarised with the best dishes even without having to glance at the menu. Super us.

All and all, great companies, great place, good food, excellent experience and nice location. I had given a 8/10 ever since my first visit and till this very visit, its still da same.

And don't forget to make your reservations beforehand. Hard luck that they are always packed with regulars.

What Have I Been Doing During The Past Few Days..

As dinner in school sucks as usual, this gave us a reason to eat reasonably good food somewhere else. So i decided to bring two of my classmates along to "The World Cafe" for dinner. Not the first time for Lilin but first for Yammy.. Lilin has been my eating out buddy lately, so basically whatever i ate or where ever i dine, she's mostly present.

Wore a sky blue tee with river island jeans which i bought them from UK. Speaking of which, "you can go crazy shopping there, i'm freaking serious". So the moment we stepped into the restaurant, the atmosphere was kinda dead-silent. Staffing was down to 2 at most and so were their customers. I mean how sad, its a saturday evening and thats the kinda crowd they're expecting. This is so not gonna work out in Singapore. Alright so back to the main topic, i ordered a curry prawn dish which comes with fragrant rice and so were Lilin and Yammy. wee.. There are just more to fascinate you, Curry prawn dish topped with cottage cheese. Mouth-watering. Its more like floating on curry river, by passing prawns and pieces of cottage cheese. wow..

So upon the minute of settling down with our drinks, we couldn't wait any longer but to gobble things up. its literally gobbling.. haa.. Not forgetting pictures taking session in the mids of eating and drinking.. For that day, only managed to withdraw 2 nicely taken shots. argh. i was so dieing for a SLR every single time when i have to deal with lousy shots.. gosh.. hmm, what else have i gotta say other than the tender prawns, nicely cooked till the every ready doneness and and not forgetting the creamy fragranced curry gravy, not too spicy but just right to trigger your senses. It was indeed a treat well-deserved. For all that dissertation and report assignments, we just have got too little time to enjoy..

ENGLAND TRIP & The MMU VISIT..

It feels really good once again hearing random people speaking "English".. not to mention the british english and that accent but english in its form of language at least. It actually were typical towards the similarities of building styles between UK and Singapore. I later recalled on the history of Singapore being british colonel and/ or in other words, fashion, food and lots more were closely adapted by Singapore.

Moreover, globalization led to culture diversification. I have seen chinatown for the chinese, curry mile street for the indians and halal food restaurants catered for the muslims. People there were really friendly, well majority at least. "I'm here standing on the British land feeling the Great Britain breeze", thats what i feel and how i felt it when i was there. No doubt the fact of being comfortable with the environment and society, food was way different and noting the fact that English food is far too difficult to adapt. Except fish and chips for being the only great yum, the rest on the row were a big "NOT" for me.

For a trade off of flying here was to attend programs organized by the MMU and boring trips that's checked a "must" on attendants. Myself wasn't really interested in visiting the manchester football club museum and black sheep beer brewery. eww.. God, those were boring when i thought of. Although i have never loved watching football matches and fancy beer drinking, but still, thats something new.

Apart from the excursions, back in the campus we have got workshops waiting for our presents. Sugar handling, sausage making, wine, cheese and beer tasting were excellent choices. A bravo for who ever that planned the workshops.

Speaking of leisure, shopping were as dirt cheap. I had gave a six star for the prices there. I almost got blinded when i compare the number of clothing items i grabbed and the amount i paid. On the second day of the trip, i got eight trendy items on hand and it only costed 88 pounds which in other words, less than 200 SGD. Just to certain the comparison, to grab stuff in Singapore, 200 bucks/nett on hand could only get you some 4 quantities the most. But also not forgetting the fact that you gonna get the chance of flying to England for free and thats how you feel the ultimate kick of being a shopaholic.

Throughout the trip, Sira, Lilin, Yongyi and myself had taken millions of great shots. Lets see what we've got..

A Day of Randomness..

Its Sunday.. wee.. Slept roughly 7 hrs before brunch. Myself with a few friends squeezing in my tiny room watching movie, "Step Up" is da show man. It totally rockz but though, still prefer "Step Up 2". Briana Evigan is way hotter than Jenna Lee Dewan, well thats what i think.. The gals in my room were cheering for Channing Matthew Tatum and cursing Jenna Lee Dewan. Lol. Azmi and myself were "wow-ing" throughout. Although i have watched that movie for like a million times.

Anyways, as stated on the title, this post is suppose to be a "post of randomness"; fierce. Starting with some pictures i took from my last picnic session.

Dog taken from random owner. Look how adorable she is.. hellow little cutie cutie. Despite its size and cuteness, it barked at a german shepherd till that poor dog took-off. I got so shock that i almost black out. Fierce.

This dog in particular that i super love. Took a few shots of it "without permission though". shhhss.. But he's really fierce, and pretty. I gonna own one too, someday..

Well, what's more marvelous than the view of Swiss. Priceless for a life time. Just as what majority said, "love da place".

Apart from the movie session, Winnie, Lilin and I when out for a threesome "gardening" session. haa.. You guys know what i mean. LOL.. Stolen a tulip together with some bunches of flowers. The girls were laughing that i suck at the "science-sology" of plants. Come on, thats rocket science man.

Had a few shocks when groups of people or cars by pass. God, how do those theft feel when stealing real hard cash man. It either their don't give a fuck when stealing or they enjoy being caught. After all, still we managed to view the gorgeousness of a fully opened tulip plant.

The prettiness that make you go wana go blind. A phenomenon.

Subsequently, did some muscle "tenderizing" on my lovely room-mate.

I have got an emergency to report. It was a saturday morning 4th April 2009, when i received the shocking news from ex-classmate (Alfie). An ex-classmate of mine has got himself involved in a car accident. ex-classmate was hit by a cab while driving along PIE. Current status were said to be really bad. Other than being in coma, chances of recovery has been diagnosed as low. Fellow friends, relatives and enemies out there, please please pray for his recovery. His name is sam, don't pray to the wrong person.. =) Thanks hommies..

The world gets really scary and horrifying when you get to understand the darkness within souls. Some looked really good on the outside but otherwise in the inside. Dolly puppet dirty soul, do exist. How dangerous can the society be with the presents of smiley back-stabbers, what happens most of the case is that they are too afraid to admit their verbal actions. I have personally encountered a case of such, well not really 'encountered' but provided a listening ear instead.

Once acknowledged as best friends, do humans really comprehend the definition and true meaning of 'best friend'? or even simply 'friend'? Has it became a common competitive practice that friends were being acknowledged for the need of 'keep your enemy closer'.

Influences, at times, environmental influences weighed really huge that personalities and characterizes were transformed. Exploring the strengths of individual ability, how much willpower do one need in order to embrace individualism? The question is onto the subjects of positive and negative influences along with the ability of filtering what is healthy and harmful for one's benefit.

Best sleep ever.. Ready for What's Coming Next

Lodged in Swaros and Vuitton's room last night, best sleep ever. Without having to worry about that ghost in my room.. Been 3 month from now that i've been sub-consciously asleep and stay on-guard at the same time. A few things to address, dissertation: Chapter 1,2,3 (check), Marketing Pairwork (check), French Test (check).. all ready and done with for my short backpacking trip round Europe. It's gonna be this coming friday and i've yet to inform my parents.. lol..
well, but i kinda pre-informed them but not the details.. Budget for traveling is really low. Been doing sit-ups lately, have to burn that tummy off. Hasn't been working out ever since 3 months ago, not totally my fault. Partly due to the rat-race class schedule and what's making it worse is the workout equipments. Who would feel secured running on a threat-mill that shakes at the same time? Gosh, you have to believe it, its really that bad.
When jogging with ange and clarice, well its kinda like a running actually. Ange and i had quite a fast pace, clarice is even faster, with her skate scooter.. lol.. plus she's nagging that one side of the leg might be big than the other.. haa.. i have to agree with her, sounds quite logical to me, with the design of one leg pushing and the other slacking, leg 1 gets a really hard time and leg 2 is laughing at leg 1..

FALLING SICK IS MAKING ME SICK.. Again, Again & Again..

Ever since i stepped into Switzerland, been falling sick as if there's no tomorrow. Starting to feel that my immunity builded up to block medications instead of viruses. Minor sore throat today, per visit to the clinic cost roughly 100 CHF; over my dead body, the last thing i would do before i die is to pay the doctor a visit. I mean seriously, blog buddies out there, if u fancy to be a doctor, come meet the Swiss people. 10 sicko per day = 1000 CHF per day = 7000 CHF per week = 28,000 CHF per month = 37,006.47 SGD; isn't it a gold pot awaited to be stroke.

Just in case you were busy enjoying my absents, this is how i look like after go through a series of survivor courses in Switzerland together with it's weather. :-

CRAZINESS DRIVEN BY SCHOOL..

After all those fun and joy, the long awaited real deal has finally started. Got introduced to my majors today, one of them is to write a dissertation in length of 12,000 words and what's more shocking was, the submission due date or perhaps "day" for first proposal writing is on this coming wednesday; which in other words, 2 fucking days to write a proposal. By "hearing" that had already driven me nuts, What's more to come?

Myself wanting to work in the "Gourmet journalism" line, writing assignments in particular; a 12,000 words dissertation would definitely be somewhat an ideal anchoring point. On top on all those shit, my course range covers; marketing, food & beverage concept, Food hygiene, Personal Development Planning, Enterprise Development Project, etc... School's Driving me nuts, but thats what I'm here for.. Believing that all my hard-work would pay off to a "FIRST CLASS HONORS !!!" May all the forces be with me.. =D

SWITZERLAND PART 2, LUZERN..

President of IMI volunteered himself in bringing the entire class down to town Luzern for an eye opening, three cheers to Glynn. Our first stop is to grab our bus tickets from the post office where the swiss call it "DIE POST", what an aspiring name. Next proceeding to the bus stop, call me a countrymen but i was really shock seeing bus stops without shelters; its either the raincoats here were dirt-cheap or raining ain't gonna happen at Swiss. How ironic. After countable stops, we finally reached Luzern's central of town "Barnot".

So glynn took the 24 of us round Luzern, one of the main stop is at the supermarket; i was shocked again by 2 issues. Firstly, i was wanting to use the market trolly but it requires coins to unlock the chain; instructions were written in german, so i when to the counter to seek help, but the counter lady refused to answer me, as if i was invisible. "What's her problem, totally".. Secondly, after paying for groceries, we were required to pack our stuff into the plastic bag by ourselves. Tell me about it, the bags were freaking small that we couldn't contain huge items. Ironically, i saw huge paper bags laying around the other closed counters, so i immediately grab them to contain the rest of the huge items. After happily walking off with the few big paper bags, glynn asked me, "hey, did you pay for those bags? " and i was like "aaaa..., ain't this for free? ". Safe and sound, finally arrived at airport zurich after a long long 13 hours flight. It's like taking forever to fly from hometown to Switzerland, practically sleeping, eating and watching never-ending movies. It's really difficult to sleep on a comfi position, by judging at the way its(SQ) sittings were aligned. It's really frustrating especially when flying through mid-night. Flight meals were really good, warm and appealing at least.

SUPPER AFTER MOVIES..

Finally watched Twilight where i've been wanting to catch even since the day it's released. Its more of romance rather than actions, Dien and Ailing didn't really enjoy the show as they were expecting for more actions rather than romances. Dien commented that there were lack of facial expression in the sense of "vampire's urged for blood" kinda thingy. As for the rest of us, we really did enjoyed from start till end. I personally thought that its a good balance between romance and action, if it were to be more of either romance or action than it would either be typically "vampier show" or "way too draggy".

Supper @ Hong kong Cafe(Kovan), we each ordered awesome dishes. Myself having "cheese Baked Pork Chop Spaghetti", the sauce was quite bland but pork chop was really awesome. Not only the taste were right, it's been cooked till tender. Fantastically Prepared.

I know I know.. Its been ages from my previous post.. And now i'm back with my next t-shirt design.. Isn't it awesome.. Well, this time round was a little different.. On a rainy night(how typical to start a story,lol..), was trying to get myself to sleep early as i've known that i needa be fully energized for my christmas dinner preparation(14pax). Within spilt-second after shutting my eyes, "inspiration wifi" came connected again. Yah its like "Again". I know its kinda hard to bitchy about oneself, but this inspiration wifi thingy is like "In Me", totally.. When it comes, its like god's telling me, "Hell no my child, sleeping aint gonna happen tonight, dude" And my inspiration 2 days ago(before christmas dinner) was this 70s kinda feeling with pocket-squares.. Ironically, i was having left over fabrics from making sharon's Christmas gift(poker-dots leather pouch), where poker-dots is totally 70s(how lucky isn't it). So i created a new t-shirt design within 2 hrs time.. I have to comment about this, its like the easiest design i've ever come out with.. Freaking 2 hrs.. Hell cool rite.. And i love it.. Exclusive and AwesomeLIOUS.. And i kinda think that its actually sellable.. Well, u know ray, confidents had always been my middle name. lol.. Alrighty, Illustration time ===>

Had dinner with Glen and Guo hua, called the rest but they were busy as usual. After multiple changes of both location and restaurant, we finally decided to dine at Astons (Cathey). Super duper long Que, took super duper long time to serve orders but food turns out great and price were really reasonable. Individual dishes ranges from S$6.90 to S$14.90 and drinks were of the norm or perhaps too cliche. Alrighty, thats about all.. Lets allow the pictures to speak... =) Enjoy..

7 Dec 2008, arrived at Singapore from batam trip. Lunching with trip buddies(Dien, Janice, Dan, bestfriend lynn) at harbor front's food junction and as of usual, gossiping session after lunching (what a great dessert..) Throughout craps and fishes, we engaged into the topic of having kids and nursing kids (be it your own or others). Myself as an individual simply dont buy the idea of having kids of my own and strongly against the idea of baby-sitting kids for others. Because i know myself that i'm impatient towards playful kids and i have zero confidence in doing a great job. if u were to leave a kid with me, u would sure find them dead. Well, after hearing my point of view about kids, bestfriend commented that i'm being extremely "CRUEL", im a cruel person by nature and properly i would need to grow up more to be more mature so as to love kids. Hmm, i was being disappointed, not just "very" disappointed but "extremely". She someone that i have expectations in and to know me the best. Where are all the support and understanding? u mean "CRUEL"? HELLO, KNOCK KNOCK.. Well, u might think that way and/ or in fact i do admit the level of cruelty in me but do u have to say that in front of a bunch of friends? and making it feel as if its like a joke? Well bestfriend, if u were to read this blog, let me tell you this, its not a joke, its an insulation(big time). Why can't i be someone of myself? If i say i dont adore kids means i dont adore kids, why do u have to force the idea into me saying that "Well, i think Ray would have to grow up more, he's too young to make such judgements" "He obviously needs to be more mature". You'r always telling me that, bestfriends are mend to understand each other. Well, i'm not seeing it coming from you babe. Someone that used to be important in my life but not now anymore. COME ON, give me a break, i need a big one. This is not the first time you'r doing this to your bestfriend here, when ever i bring u along for friend's gathering, i'm always your point of joke(if u did realise, if u don't than i'm so sorry for you). Bestfriends? "Best of friends forever?" its been 4 years of our friendship and i had been telling myself to tolerate and keep trying. When u randomly ask for movie, i rush down by cab. when u said to meet after work, im always there. I seriously thinks that i deserve better, at least for once. Tolerance for you? Not anymore, perhaps lets just stay mutual. As good as it is.. People reading this, lets just think that i'm being petty or "WAT SO EVER" but you know what, "ITS LIKE I DONT REALLY GIVE A DAMN !!" hell true, thats from RAY.. Surprised? na.. i'm always myself.. Life goes on even if all are dead and you'r the one and only standing, you can't really ask "Nothing" to be your friend, can you? I really do appreciate friends and stuff, its not that i dont trust them. its the matter of "Am i or are we taking Ray for granted? " If you'r not, than u'r for sure on my list.. =)

I have to give a 4 star YAHOO to its butter fried-calamari and blackpepper(anything) and a 1 star TAHOO for service, lets give it a benefit of doubt (Non-developed country), took 30mins to get simple dishes served.. my chef would kick my ass good-bye.. Woke up at 13:30 with joy and hopes, the first thing i told myself is thats "today is gonna be my day". Slacked on mum's bed and making use of my left brain to watch repeated hong kong drama series plus breakfast on bed and the utilizing the right to think of what to wear later on.. wee.. genius right.. haa.. don't sour grape.. left home 16:00, headed down Plaza Singapura to grab some Switzerland stuff.. cant imagine its kinda 3 degrees now and its gonna be real bad by the time i'm there.. Hopped to spotlight after shopping at "coldwear", got myself some fabric and feathers for lynn's hat tailoring. (*stay tune on the upcoming post, lynn's hat, before & after). Had birthday dinner with family people at "Soon Heng curry fish head Restaurant".. Was kinda shocked that mum actually invited quite a number of people. *told her to stay low-profile thought-.-.. Done dinner at about 21:00, when off and met up with some of the close friends, they wanted to celebrate birthday with me too.. =) Super excited when i saw them placing bakerzin cake on KFC's desk. (Bakerzin is like heaven can.. lolx..) Started with birthday song an ended with an dien's unique dark chocolate facial mask treatment -.-.. (i washed my face twice with body milk bath, OMG.. ) But was really a special day to spend with special friends.. haa.. =) okiae.. thats about it to call off the day.. Roger that..

WAT A DAY... -.- Ironically..

Went for movie with army buddies in the evening, Beverly Hills Chihuahua is the show. Was traumatized by snacks counter atten., here's the story. My total check for nacho combo extra cheese was S$7.80, i gave him notes and coins of a 10 bucks note, a 2 bucks & 80 cents(Coins) adding up to a total of S$12.80. I was intending to get a 5 bucks note as change instead of receiving coins (if i were to pay by 10 bucks note). After handing over the S$12.80 cash, the casher boy said "hmm, sorrie its S$7.80, not S$12.80" and i replied "it would be great if u could return me a 5 bucks note". Guess what the casher boy did in just split seconds, he ROLLED HIS EYE BALLS at me and SHAKE HIS HEAD. What's service all about? holy lord.. And guess what happened next, i didnt managed to get my 5 bucks note in exchange cos he claims that he has got no 5 bucks note. omg.. Wat a day... LOLx..

Overview
Widely known to be the queen of all fruits, this humble purple fruit with its green crown belongs to the family of tropical evergreens; originated from asia and subsequent brought over to the United States. Containing biological properties of antioxidant, anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anticancer activities, this fruit has been well liked by the Queen of United states, Queen Victoria. There were myths describing her extreme level of indulgence in the fruit that she offers cash rewards to anyone who could deliver a mangosteen to her.

Why So Good?
The primary active components of the mangosteen fruit are called xanthones. Xanthones are a recently discovered class of polyphenolic compounds that are biologically active and structurally similar to bioflavanoids. These compounds occur only rarely in nature, with the majority being found in only two families of plants. Two hundred naturally occurring xanthones have so far been identified. Around forty of them have been discovered in the mangosteen fruit.

Xanthones and their derivatives have been shown to have several benefits, including anti-inflammatory properties, anti-allergic, and anti convulsant abilities. There are also other components of the mangosteen that have medicinal qualities, including polysaccharides, sterols, proanthocyanidins and catechins. These are less nutritionally important and biologically active than xanthones, but are still a major part of providing the fruit with its medicinal benefits, since many of them act as antioxidants.

Most Importantly !!!
Mangosteen fruit has been discovered to contain a number of these strong antioxidants. These are compounds that prevent or reduce oxidation and reactions that are promoted by peroxides and oxygen. Oxidation in the body can produce free radicals, which begin chain reactions, causing cell damage. This type of cell damage has been linked to premature aging and a number of diseases. Antioxidants stop these chain reactions because they remove the free radicals. Low levels of antioxidants in the body causes what is called oxidative stress, which has been associated with many diseases. The use of antioxidants has been intensively studied in recent years, particularly in treatments of neurodegenerative disease, strokes and anti-aging.

What More?
Mangosteen is a beautiful Thai fruit that has just been made available in the US. And because it contains so many antioxidants, mangosteen also offers numerous health benefits. It not only can be eating fresh, they could be handled in different culinary ways. Although it can be a tad expensive, you need only 5 mangosteens to make this clafouti recipe. Clafouti is a very old-style dessert from France - a cloud-like type of custard made with fresh fruit. Mangosteen is especially well-suited to the dessert, offering a mixture of both sweet and sour flavors. Here's a little recipe to share:

Delicious Mangosteen Clafouti

Prep Time: 12 minutes

Cook Time: 1 hours, 00 minutes

Ingredients:

SERVES 4-6
5 mangosteens (mangosteens are round with dark purple skin and a thick stem on top - very different from mangoes)
1/2 cup + 1 Tbsp. sugar
1 tsp. cornstarch
1/3 cup rice flour (OR regular all purpose flour)
4 large eggs
pinch of salt
1 cup coconut milk
1 tsp. grated lemon peel
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 tsp. coconut extract
Optional: 1 tsp. icing sugar for garnish

1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees.

2. Using a little oil or butter, generously grease a 1 1/2 quart casserole dish, OR 4-6 individual-size ramekins (6 small or 4 larger ramekins).

3. To Prepare the Mangosteens: Using a sharp knife, cut off the stem section at the top of the mangosteen. If your fruit is very ripe, you will be able to easily peel off the thick purple skin using your thumb. If the skin is firm, make another cut with your knife down one side of the fruit, then open it up.

4. Inside the thick skin you will find small, white segments of fruit. Remove these segments (but leave any stones inside).

5. Toss the fruit segments with 1 tsp. cornstarch and 1 Tbsp. sugar to coat.

5. Arrange these segments in the bottom of the casserole dish, or divide them out evenly among the ramekins. Set aside.

6. In a large bowl, whisk eggs with the salt and sugar to blend. Then whisk in the flour, stirring until smooth.

7. Add the coconut milk, lemon peel, plus vanilla and coconut extract. Whisk to blend.

8. Pour this mixture into the casserole dish (over the mangosteen segments). If using ramekins, ladle the mixture into the ramekins, dividing it out evenly among the dishes. Note that the fruit may float in the egg mixture - this is desirable.

9. Place the casserole dish in the oven. If using ramekins, place the filled ramekins in a lasagna-type baking dish. Pour some water into the dish - enough to reach 1/4 to 1/3 the way up the side of the ramekins.

10. Bake 55 minutes to 1 hour, or until the dessert is set in the middle and lightly browned on top.

11. Serve warm with a little icing sugar sifted over, or with your choice of ice cream or whipped cream. If you left any stones in the mangosteen segments, be sure to warn your guests of this (and congratulate yourself for introducing others to this incredible Thai fruit!). ENJOY!

Went dinner with sis(dien) and friend(dan) at Tampines mall.. NOt really great indulgence but indeed a decent meal. For god sake i had to comment about our dine-out location, super duper packed with "human" of all kinds, people were SERIOUSLY squeezing as if there's earthquake or annual SAVE discount. Initially we decided to dine at Pasta mania(how lucky they are, having the chance to serve us :X) unfortunately they were fully packed as usual.. so we hopped next door knowing that there weren't much occupancy plus not having to Que. or age waiting.. SERIOUSLY, i had to comment about the effect of inflation, i'm not sure whether should it be a compliment or comment, having to dine in a restaurant thats warmer than the shopping mall itself(totally not logical) and staff were educated with low demand in English(being the international language, thats a major turnoff) plus empty knowledge in menu details. Not being able to comprehend the word bowl as in "bowl" in English.. I hold NO 1% act of discrimination or thought of prejudice on foreign workers but "SERIOUSLY", believing that the restaurant itself holds the responsibility in sending their staff for basic english courses, where it proposes a WIN:WIN situation for both. First to groom its staff in being an asset of the company and secondly to promote quality services(where's their sense of competent in this well known hospitality country?). But all and all, this boils down to the root of :- "Why are we paying service charges of 10% in the exchange of lousy service standards?" SERIOUSLY, ROLL EYE BALL.. Do we as customers not deserve quality service for what we paid for or do we pay 10% SVC as a form of imposition. Blog buddies, waiting for ya shout-outs in regards to this issue. Correct me if i'm wrong, tell me your views.. =)

21 july, Monday, rainy

What an exciting morning, woke up at 8am to drag myself to the gym(finally). Spent an hour of quality time doing 1 round of all the machines. Had to rush back home get changed for project meeting in the afternoon, the moment i step out of the gym i start to feel god's tears laying on my hair. Did a "100m run" to the bus stop and the sky goes, cats & dogs, cats & dogs, cats & dogs till my alighting bus stop..Still cats & dogs, cats & dogs, cats & dogs, ats & dogs, cats & dogs, cats & dogs, ats & dogs, cats & dogs, cats & dogs....

Arrived at city hall at 1215, , suppose to doing birthday lunch with alicia together with angela and jaclyn. Thank god i wasnt the only one late, jaclyn too.. haa.. (thats like so asian) So we had subway got lunch and headed to starbucks@ Suntec for project meeting. PIctures Pictures Pictures.. =D

Life gets really boring with lessons lessons and lessons everyday. Its my first time going to school by myself via bus. Over estimated the journey time, luckily was just 5 mins late. Had a hard time finding the right classroom, think the uni should really do something about the direction sign-boards. Entered the class with bright smile(like always) and i had people eyeing on me (dont know for fuck also). today's lesson is about resort management conducted by charles, always enjoyed his lesson or perhaps his sense of humor. lolx. Thank god yong yi reserved a set for me, if not i would be having a hard time finding sits. Hated to seat right at the back of the class but if just happened today, could hardly heard what the lecturer is saying most of the time. Eyeing at the clock from three-thirty to four-forty but seems like the lesson ain't gonna be ending on time. FInally reach five! and i see people packing up their stuff, which means... "its time for dinner"....

Gonna ciao.. talk to u guys again..

Noobs At Skats..

15 Jul, Monday, Cloudy..
Was indeed a exciting and challenging day,i'm actually rolling on wheels. Even i did experience blading before but that was like centuries ago. Fell 9 times today and that for sure clocks my highest record of falling on my ass(in a day). But i was really glad that im starting to master the basic fundamentals of blading, although i still fall before we end the day. haa. oh yah almost forgotten, went blading today with alicia, stella and yong yi (uni classmates). Both stella and i were like super newbies and yong yi indeed makes a good coach, nice and patient. Thanks to him that he said "must fall a few more times than will learn liao" thanks arh.. lolx.. i have to make an important note here, dont u guy ever ever ever rent blades unless you'r damn desperate to skate. Bring your own, the trouble is nothing in compared. Its sinks like fuck before u put them on and sinks your feet extra badly after. Alicia and i were planning to grab a new pair of blades but at the same time having a tide budget, hopefully angela could get a discount for us from "Inline skates".

After a tiring day, we headed down to cityhall to collect some notes and treated ourselves at pasta mania. yong yi and i had meat balls pasta(all time favorite) and stella had pasta with tomato based sauce. Our order were served immediately after we were seated back(thumbs up for their service) but however i was quite disappointed with their meatballs pasta. The meat balls were extremely hard as if we were biting pebbles, as for my kind of preferences it's supposed to be soft, tender and moist inside. tomato based sauce were horrible as well, just imagine u had to sprinkle salt after your first bite. But likewise i do give a thumbs up for their creamy based pasta; way better than tomato based.Not sure whether is the thing with me that i'm difficult to "please"(according to my friends). Ended our exciting Monday blues after dinner and all headed back home after.

Shout out: To yong yi, thanks alot for driving me from bugis to east coasts and driving us to cityhall for dinner.. Many thanks for teaching skates too.. cheers..

14 JUL, Monday, Midnight...

wee.. its been 3 weeks and i manage to know most people in my class.. and got click up with a few and become good friends.. First on the list.. Shermaine, formally from same secondary.. joey, status unknown (aka acne emo)... travis, formally from shatec but he's old bird badge(aka ching ai de)... originally know yong yi(aka inline skater), xiao wei(aka Always never pay ERP)... its been challenging throughout the 3 weeks.. lots of drama.. and happy moments too.. had a great time kboxing with them, shermaine and travis sang damn well.. add-ons, travis is a great drummer too.. lolx.. travis and joey had always been our gossiping topic.. real juicy type... haa.. but mean no harm la.. dont worrie, nothing private.. hee.. ups and downs, downs and ups.. had a few misunderstands but real hope everything would be back to normal days..

Lesson learned.. always forgive and forget, learn to accept people's past and bygones.. *shout outs: traivs, although we misunderstood u but we would learn to accept ur past.. give us a chance and we would prove u wrong that we'r not like those noobs that couldnt accept ur past.. and u does make a good friend.. be it play or study.. and u'r a super busy man..(maybe its no good to have too many friends, time not enough.. lolx..) dont forget to save some time for us.. =D

Food, Passion & dreams

Ever since i was a kid, i have always got a great love and passion for food & culinary and catching up with cooking variety shows were never a miss for. When i was at high school, i'm always looking forward onto the hit of the bell and rushed right back home to tune into the TV and non-stop switching onto culinary related programs one after another. It goes on and on and thats how i became a couch-potato. At the age of 16 i have got myself into a culinary institute where i could fulfill my passion for cooking and my dream of being a great chef. Cooking has always been a major part of my life and i could spent two third of my day planning a dish and getting my hands on with it. And if i were to choose between to cook, to taste or to feel for food; i would say it all comes in a package and thats what i believe in. Going to the heaven after death would never be my first choice when food has to come in. Hence, i inspired to be a F&B journalist as well, just imagine how wonder it is to use the power of words to trigger the reader's taste buds where i could put them onto a life long food hunting journey. Last but not least, Eat Healthy & Stay Happy..

Xin Wang Hong Kong Cafe Review

After queuing-up for ages at the entrance of the hong kong cafe, i finally got myself seated at the most left corner of the cafe by the stressful looking manager . It is real typical for similar cafes to have a crowded or “market” atmosphere, having people in different age groups and messes conversation in different languages. I was demanded by my starving tummy to wave for the menu, the giant A3 size menu was really colorful and well detailed. While i was flipping through i realized they actually added a few new selections and got myself a plate of fried rice accompanied with chicken and salted fish(looks really yummy on the menu). It took me about 20mins to see my order being walked by the waiter, while it was about 1 meter away i could smell the heavenly aroma let out by the fried salted fish or perhaps “pungent” would be the word for those who don't appreciate. Before digging-in, i would like to comment about the presentation of the dish; it was garnished by chopped spring onions and looks rather “okiae” or “cafe style” be which. From the first spoonful, i can taste deep-fried chicken chop, salted fish, eggs and spring onions. Rice were nicely folded with eggs and cook till Asian al denta, the rest of the ingredients were finely diced and blends well into the dish. when i put them into my mouth it is as though a happy family marching down my throat and they were so moist that it goes down smoothly as if a thin layer of H2o were coated individually. I checked my bill for a good S$8.90 and i would for sure drop by even during perk-hours(depends on my cravings).

Andersen's Ice Cream Review

Happened to drop by marina square area for a job interview (Conrad Hotel) so i decided to make a stop at Anderson's ice cream franchise(1 of my favorites) for a little sweet treats (take-away). Had a vanilla cream puff than cost me a good S$1.80; cream puff were soft & puffy on the inside and nicely baked golden-brown on the outside. Generously pipped with low fat whipped dairy cream that goes over-flowing to almost the entire take-away box and “wow” its like a bravo for whipped cream lovers. Puff taste kinda bland yet vanilla cream were slightly sweet, in fact both comes well together. From the first bite, the puff were really gentle to the teeth and followed by a mouthful of rich and creamy vanilla cream. It came running in your entire mouth as if u would never want to finish munching and it kinda triggers your memories to your first love. Mouth watering, bites after another and dare you to resist.
